Why I Breed Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs

I breed Swissies because they are beautiful wonderful dogs and more people deserve the chance to own one. I am not in it for the money and I am not in it for the social life or activities. For me it is all about the dogs. Other folks deserve the joy that Swissys bring and it is my goal to spread that joy in a responsible ethical way.

How I Breed greater Swiss Mountain Dogs.

I are small volume Swissy Breeders averaging 1 to 2 litters per year. Depending on litter size I may place 5 to 15 puppies annually. All of my breeding stock are screened for genetic health issues and have good temperaments. I gather as much health and temperament information as possible about the breedings that I do. All of my puppies are whelped and raised in the house. I never use brokers or sell to pet shops. All of my companion puppies must be spayed or neutered and I offer specific written health guarantees. I accept a lifetime responsibility for my puppies and will accept them back without condition. I am available for consultation and support for all of my puppy owners.

Getting a puppy from me.

In order for you to get one of my puppies I need to know as much as possible about you, your situation, your experience with dogs in general and Swissies in particular. If you have met a GSMD. What you have learned about Swissys so far and why you want a Swissy. You can help me get started by filling out my Inquiry form which gives me a starting place to work from. If you are local expect to arrange time to meet me and my dogs and if you are at a distance be prepared to spend significant time on the phone getting to know me and telling me about yourself. You will also need to review and understand my Purchase Agreement.

I expect you to ask me some questions as well which I will answer honestly. it is important that you feel comfortable and trust me so the I can give you support if you need it.

After we get to know each other if you are still interested in getting a puppy and I feel that it is likely that I will have a puppy for you I will discuss the process in depth. I will ask for a deposit that is fully refundable if I don't end up having a puppy for you but which you forfeit one half of if you don't want the pup I choose for you.

That's right I will be choosing your puppy. I have a lot more experience than you do in selecting puppies for a particular situation. I temperament test my pups at 7 weeks and I make every effort to place each one in a home that provides the greatest chance for success. At eight weeks I grade the pups for conformation and make my final selections. I never allow the puppies to leave before 8 weeks.

If you are local I will schedule a time to pick up the puppy and complete the paperwork. Expect to spend a couple of hours doing this. If you are flying in to pick up your puppy I suggest that you stay overnight or allow at least 8 hours between arrival and departure. I will ship puppies on direct flights where there is no change of planes and the flight duration is less than 4 hours. You are responsible for all transportation costs including the crate and health certificate. I will be giving you a binder with a lot of information about the background of your puppy and information on health issues common to Swissies, training, feeding and where to go for more information.
